2012's Victorious Individuals
Hello Everybody! In this entry, I'll be talking about the winners I know in every fields of interests these individuals joined. So Happy Reading and all together, let's remember how these people won on the contest they've joined this year.
REALITY SHOWS
Albert "Betong" Sumaya: Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown
An AMAZING Season of the said show, not only because the said word has been said several times but also the whole competition, the castaways, the issues, love teams grown. Bulan tribe was considered the stronger tribe while Tala tribe was loved by the fans.. Upon merging to the new Tribe Apolaki, Bulan members outnumbered Tala members that caused them to be voted out one by one except for the Amazing Team up of Maey and Betong. Unity, yes it's the UNITY that brought Betong (the only Tala Member who made it into the top 3 with Mara Yokohama and Stef Prescott from Bulan) into winning the 2nd Celebrity Sole Survivor after gaining 4 votes from co-tala members Maey, Chuckie, Arthur and the Betrayed Bulan member KC Montero.
Slater Young: Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited
The 4th Season of the Regular edition of PBB. A record-breaking season due to the most number of housemates entered the Big Brother house. A total of 37 housemates from 1st batch, 2nd batch and reserved housemates entered the said house with house guests which some of those were pbb alumni. We all have witnessed the clash between Team Wayuk and Team High Voltage, the airing of PBB Unlimited twice a day, the PBB UNLIDAY and PBB UNLINIGHT. Housemates lived for 154 days. Slater Young was declared the Season's Big Winner after gaining 40.02% of text votes, following him were Pamu, Biggel, and Paco.
Myrtle Sarrosa: Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4
The 4th Season of PBB's Teen edition which was aired I think just a week after PBB Unlimited Big Night and lasted for 13 weeks. In this edition, we all have witnessed the growing young love inside the house with these batch of teen housemates, that is why the phrase "pbb teens" has been viral to the public especially for the couples who were showing PDA's, etc and having said that, several love teams were made. Myrtle Sarrosa emerged as this season's Teen Big Winner after gaining a total of 33.92% from the combination of votes to save and to evict. following her was Karen at 2nd place, Roy in Third place, and the twins Jai and Joj in 4th place. This was the 1st season of PBB to have twins in the Big four.
LJ Moreno and CJ Jaravata: The Amazing Race Philippnes
The Most Expensive reality show has finally conquered our Country via TV5. The Amazing Race Philippines.. Why the Most expensive reality show? It's because of the Prizes every end of a leg, plus the transportation used by the teams, and the Grand Prize. This Season's very first winners were LJ Moreno and CJ Jaravata, the Team Celebrity Bestfriends. This team has never been into first place from the first leg up to the 12th leg of the race. It's the luck and team work that brought them in the 1st Place during the Final leg. The team brought home 2 Million Pesos as Grand Prize courtesy of Brother Philippines.
Denise Stapley: Survivor 25: Survivor Philippines
The 25th Season of Survivor US series held in Caramoan Island in the Philippines with 3 tribes, Tandang, Kalabaw and Matsing Tribe. Each cast away has been eliminated one by one every tribal council until the merged tribe continues with Dangrayne Tribe. Every eliminated cast away becomes a jury. This Season's Winner is Denise Stapley who got 6 votes versus 1 vote each for Michael and Lisa.
MUSIC INDUSTRY
Phillip Phillips: American Idol Season 11
The most talked about season I think, with the record breaking 130 + million votes during the season finale. Votes outside America was also allowed during this season through online voting on American Idol website and facebook. Phillip Phillips won over Jessica Sanchez on the season finale which declared him the 11th winner of the the said show and Jessica Sanchez was his Runner up and considered "World Idol" by millions of fans around the world.
KZ Tandingan: The X Factor Philippines
This was very first season of The X Factor Philippines. We all witnessed the journey of the hopefuls, their emotions, the creation of a new group (Lucky Girls- turned into- AKA JAM), the haters, the supporters and the entire competition. The Bubbly KZ Tandingan emerged as this season's Grand Champion after winning against Gabriel Maturan and Daddy's Home. We have witnessed her journey and her principle that music industry is not just for power belter singers and singers with pretty faces. But off course Everybody agrees, KZ also has the pretty face, combined with unique style of voice plus the charms that the public will absolutely love her.
Zendee Rose: Random Girl
So far I think she did not win in the contest she joined on TV this year. Yes, she auditioned on X factor Philippines but she did not make it on at least top 20. Then why did I include her on my list of victorious individuals this year? Well I think everybody knows her journey to the music industry. She was The Random Girl who was taped singing in a mall on the video that became viral on different social media. That Time, her identity was so mysterious since we just heard her beautiful voice until her Name was revealed. After the video, she got huge breaks such as Tv guesting, production number on Party Pilipinas, recording contract and a lot more. so for me, even if she did not win in the contest she joined, through that video, she became victorious. :)
Tate Stevens: X Factor USA Season 2
The Fast track season of the x factor because every week, 2 acts were sent home. And For the first time in the History of The X factor, after elimination, rankings of the acts were revealed. After a neck-to-neck race to the 1st place with Teen's Carly Rose Soneclar, This Season's Winner of the X Factor USA is Tate Stevens from the Over 25 category.
TALENT SEARCH
ASTROBOY: Talentadong Pinoy 3rd Battle of the Champions
He is one of the Hall of Famers for the 3rd season of Talentadong Pinoy. With his various tricks and exhibitions using Hoola Hoops, He won over the other hall of famers who sang, danced, and performed via sand art on the Battle of the Champions held on QC Circle. If I am not mistaken, he will represent the country for the next WCOPA.
SANDUGO GUARDLINE: Talentadong Pinoy Kids
This kids will prove that talent search is also for kids. With their unique talent in flag twirling, they emerged as the winner of the 1st season of Talentadong Pinoy Kids. They might not be that popular and famous as for now, but since they have that unique talent, I believe that there will be a better future ahead of them.
Ryzza Mae Dizon & John Edric Ulang: Eat Bulaga's Little Miss Philippines 2012 and Mr. Pogi 2012
They were the products of this year's two different talent search in the noontime show Eat Bulaga. Ryzza Mae Dizon won in this year's edition of Eat Bulaga's Little Miss Philippines. After winning, she was loved by the public and immediately became part of the noontime show. She was also became popular because of her style of dance moves in CHACHA, which is now presently a dance craze of the show. Meanwhile, John Edric Ulang is this year's winner of Mr. Pogi 2012 also from the same show. Some of the netizens thought he was not deserving of the title. Following his victory, he also performs in eat bulaga for a song and dance numbers and sometimes, together with his co-finalists on the said contest. Edric and his co-finalists also appeared as actors on the acting portion of D Kilabots, another contest produced by the show which is the counterpart of Mr. Pogi.
Jeric Gonzales & Thea Tolentino: Protege (The Battle for the Big Artista Break)
Protege Season 2 winners Jeric and Thea were both from Team South Luzon which was handled by Ms. Gina Alajar. For this season, there were only 5 mentors and each mentor will represent a team handling 4 proteges. After the swap, Jeric was chosen to be part of Team Jolina, and Thea was retained on the Team of Ms. Gina Alajar. Based from what I saw from various websites, it seems like, some fans were not satisfied with the results as they thought the top contenders were Mikoy Morales or Ruru Madrid for the Boys and Elle Ramirez for the Girls. The Winners brought home a total of 6 million pesos worth of cash and prizes each.
Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica: Artista Academy
The dreams of becoming a star of these individuals started at Araneta Coliseum and ended victoriously by fulfilling it as the winners of Artista Academy at Araneta Coliseum during its awards night held last October 27, 2012. Fame, Fortune and Stardom, that was the promise of the show to the winners, Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert. Both winners has a relative in showbiz industry which is somehow helped these 2 in gaining popularity; Vin Abrenica's brother was Aljur Abrenica, also a product of a talent search on GMA7, On the other hand, Sophie Albert was related to the Cojuanco's, she is the grand daughter of the late President Cory Aquino and niece of the talk show host Kris Aquino, but for some reasons, she didn't tell her relation to them in the earlier phase of the competition, to build her own identity in the industry. The winners brought home a total of 10 million pesos worth of cash and prizes each.
SPORTS
Timothy Bradley: Pacquiao vs. Bradley Fight
This was one of the most controversial fights in boxing history. The World knows what was happened in this fight. Timothy Bradley was declared the winner via split decision from the judges. He might be victorious, only in the eyes of 2 judges who declared him the winner and his fans, but as everybody seen the fight, in the hearts of million boxing fans, Manny Pacquiao is the true winner. Because of the controversies, the fight was reviewed. Even though the title was not allowed to be given to the real champion, the review made by the committee proved that Pacman was the real winner. However Pacquiao graciously accepted his defeat over Bradley.
Miami Heat: NBA Champion
Definitely I am not a basketball fan. However, every year there will always be a most talked-about season of the NBA, and this year, Team Miami Heat emerged as the winner after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunders in the Heat's homecourt with the help of the Heat's famous Big 3, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and the MVP LeBron James. After her defeat against Yesica Marcos last March 16, Ana Julaton is back in revenge even though not in the same opponent, after an amazing fight last August 3 against Abigail Ramos who was knocked out by Julaton at 0:19 seconds of round 1. Filipino and American fans were very proud of her.

After a "doubtful result" of their match last year that brought Pacman to his victory, another fight has just concluded recently at Pacquiao/Marquez 4 on Las Vegas. But this time, a "Lucky Punch" from El Dinamita said by the viewers knocked out Pacquiao on the last second of round 6. Thus Marquez won the Boxer of the Decade. Not a good year for Mr. Pacquiao in Boxing as he lost 2 consecutive times to Bradley and Marquez, but made his Filipino Fans and constituents still proud of him despite of his defeat.
